I know, I know… it sounds harsh, it sounds like foul language but in reality it’s not.
When I say “to hell with religion” I’m not saying throw away everything that has to do with religion or get rid of religion. What I’m saying is that you can go to hell even if you’ve got religion… in other words “religion is not going to save you from hell”.
If you look at the life of Jesus, you’ll see that he had a problem with religion. You’ll find that most of his confrontations were with religious people and Yes, he was hard on religion.
Here are some phrases he used when talking to religious people:
- …But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Matthew 23:13
- …Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites Mark 7:6
- Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres Matthew 23:27
- …blind leaders of the blind Matthew 15:14
- …Ye are of your father the devil John 8:44
As you can see, in his words there was no sympathy for religious people.
Now… Does God loves religious people?
Certainly Yes. God loves religious people and his word is clear, but the only way a person can be saved is by coming to Christ, not by keeping religious precepts and ceremonies.
The bottom line of what I’m trying to say here is that:
You can have religion and still go to hell. Religion cannot save you from hell.
Only Christ Can.
Will God save Me?
Yes. Believe in him. Confess him as you Lord and savior.
The bible says:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9
Christ went to the cross and there perfected the work of salvation for you. He was “obedient unto death, even the death of the cross Philippians 2:8”
It is by his obedience that you are saved.
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans 5:19
Religion says that it is by your obedience (to their rules) that you are saved.
The word of God says that it is by the obedience of Christ that you are saved.
Jesus became obedient in your place. All you have to do now is trust in him.
